Snow Clearance, Waste Collections

During periods of snow and ice, Church Stretton Town Council and Shropshire Council work together to keep The Strettons moving and as safe as possible.

The areas that Shropshire Council is responsible for are the roads, car parks and pavements

Should you need to, Shropshire Council Highways can be contacted via the website: or on 03456789006.

The Town Council is responsible for keeping access to its properties clear.

These are:-

the Council Office, Silvester Horne Institute, Russell’s Meadow Community Sports Pavilion, Greenhills and Cunnery Road cemeteries, Town Park.

In the case of the Town Park, the main driveway from the gates off Sandford Avenue will be the only route treated.

Regarding the cemeteries, we advise that these are not accessed during snow and ice and will, therefore, be untreated. Although the Town Council Office will be closed over the weekend, the areas for which it is responsible are monitored.

Waste collections in severe weather

Shropshire Council are responsible for Waste Collection

"We will try to notify people via our website and social media (twitter: @shropcouncil) if a waste collection can’t take place on the scheduled day.

If we are unable to collect your waste due to the bad weather, please:

  1.  Bring your recycling boxes back in (as they can be a trip hazard) and put them out again on your next scheduled collection day.
  2. Leave your bins out. If we can’t get to you we’ll come back and empty your bins as soon as it is safe to do so. Any additional bags of side waste will be taken."
