Youth Work
On 2nd November 2021, following the signing of a Partnership Agreement between the Town Council, Mayfair and Shropshire Youth Association, the very first meeting of the Church Stretton Youth Drop-In took place.
The Town Council provides funding for a qualified and experienced youth worker from SYA to plan and run the weekly term time sessions, whilst Mayfair co-ordinates an enthusiastic team of fully trained volunteers to support the activities each evening.
The needs and preferences of the young people are taken fully on board in the planning of those activities, which make full use of the outdoor and indoor spaces available. There is always an opportunity to cook, and board games are proving particularly popular. The young people are encouraged to develop new practical skills, whilst learning to look after their own physical and mental wellbeing. It provides a safe and comfortable environment where they can simply chill out and enjoy a drink and a snack.
The Youth Drop-In is open to all young people in school years 8 to 11. It takes place every Tuesday from 6.00pm until 7.30pm at the Russell’s Meadow Pavilion.
Why not come along and give it a go? You will find a very warm welcome.

Exciting News
Following the success of the Youth Drop-In, the Town Council has put further funding aside to develop a Youth Club for those in school years 6 and 7. We hope that this will be launched after the October half-term holiday in 2022.
