The Silvester Horne Institute  is a community building in the High Street Church Stretton, with Charitable status and managed by the Town Council. It is named after Silvester Horne, who was a Congregational minister minister, served as Liberal MP for Ipswich, and was a noted orator. He was the father of the humorous broadcaster, Kenneth Horne.  Silvester Horne is buried in the cemetery at Cunnery Road.

Hiring the venue

The building has a main auditorium (with stage) seating 140 people plus an adjoining meeting room seating 40 with adjoining kitchen. There are two committee rooms seating up to 20 people.

There is adequate access for disabled people, and a hearing loop is available. In addition to roadside Car Parking outside, the main car park is 3 minutes away in Lion Meadow.

You can hire the venue for Wedding celebrations, Clubs, Parties, Music, Drama, Films, Book Fairs and more.

The Town Council office handle all the bookings for the Hall and its facilities.
