Some streetlights in Church Stretton are the responsibility of Shropshire Council and others the responsibility of the Town Council.  In the interests of energy efficiency the Town Council has taken the decision that when it is necessary to replace a street light this will be replaced with a more efficient LED light.

When making contact with us to report a street light that is not working, please provide us with the following:

  • Light number, if there is one on the column
  • house, name or number,  and road which the light is on
  • If you can the postcode

Our contractor aims to  repair faulty street lights within 15 working days. Priority is given to dangerous faults which may put members of the public at risk and these problems are dealt with quickly.

Shropshire Council lights are on Sandford Avenue east and west,  High Street and part of Shrewsbury Road and part of Ludlow Road and in the town centre. There are also a few on Ragleth Road, Swains Meadow, Churchill Road, Brooksbury &  Lutwyche Road.

The Town Council is responsible for  street lights in Little Stretton and All Stretton. We also cover Battlefield, Hazler Road, Clive Avenue, Watling Street South Cunnery Road, Trevor Hill, Carding Mill Valley and Madeira Walk and Stretton Farm Road and other areas.

If a faulty light is caused by a problem with the electricity supply we’ll refer it to the electricity supplier. This will take longer for them to fix the fault, depending on their commitments at the time.
