At Christmas the Town Council hang street decorations in town along Sandford Ave and the High Street. Local traders help decorate the town by putting up lighted Christmas trees above their premises and the Rotary Club help by putting up a large Christmas Tree in Market Square.
This year’s Christmas Lights switch on will be held on Saturday, 26th November. A full programme of timings and activities for the day will be available soon but will include:
- A Christmas Party for local children in the Silvester Horne Institute with a visit from Santa Claus
- Music and entertainment in the square from culminating in the turning on of the Christmas Lights.
Money to go towards the cost of maintaining and hanging the Christmas lights is raised through collection boxes put in shops around the town.
