Planning & Conservation

Town Council's Role in Planning

Church Stretton is in the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It enjoys protection as a consequence. In addition, much of the town and surrounding villages are within a Conservation Area which requires stronger planning considerations. The Town Council does not make any planning decisions. It is a consultee and all applications are reviewed by the Town Council and recommendations are sent to Shropshire Council.

Planning Policy Documents

The Town Council and the All Stretton Village Society have prepared planning policy documents and guidelines of relevance to their areas. They address  the aspects that all developments in the area should conform to. These policy documents can be downloaded from the list in the column on the right.

Planning Decisions

Shropshire Council is responsible for deciding on all Planning Applications. They make use of the Town Council's policy documents that apply to Planning and Conservation issues. Planning Applications can be seen on the  Shropshire Council's website (see https://www.shropshire.gov.uk/planning/) which provides advice and has a comprehensive listing of applications with relevant dates, copies of all the applications' plans, details of objections and consultations.

Your Involvement & Public Consultation

The Town Council are always pleased to hear your concerns about Planning Applications although they will not represent them to Shropshire Council on your behalf. You are encouraged to make comments directly to Shropshire Council in writing or on their website (https://www.shropshire.gov.uk/planning/).

From time to time, major Planning issues arise and the Town Council collaborates with Shropshire Council with Public Consultations. Keep in touch with our Public Consultations here. and subscribe to our news.
