This document outlines the aspirations and intentions of the South Shropshire Academy Trust (Inc. Church Stretton School) in developing and promoting a 21st century community library on the school site. Consultation has produced a cohesive vision for the Trust, a vision that will be pursued vigorously by the governors and leadership team.
At present the school library is central to learning and an important part of the school community; it offers engagement with all kinds of reading and access to information and knowledge building. The décor is however dated and in need of refurbishment and radical changes are needed to ensure that our library keeps pace with changing demands of the 21st century.
Our school development plan identified the need to create a learning resource centre that could be used by both the school and the wider community.
We believe that the learning resource centre should be an essential part of the community which entertains, educates, acts as a meeting place and offers an important source of local information.
