Fun for all the family on Wednesday 21st August
The Family Fun Day is on Wednesday 21st August from 11am to 3pm at Richard Robinson Field off Churchill Road, Church Stretton, SY6 6EG. You will find something for all the family including Petting Zoo, Sports, Raffle, Heart Start, Bake Sale, Henna and our local Police. Most of the activities are free, although there will be a small charge for some to go towards the fundraising target.
Good weather forecast
It will be an ideal spot for a family picnic and parents are advised to carry suntan lotion as an afternoon of sun is forecast.
Young People Decided to Act
A group of school leavers recognised that some apparatus at Richard Robinson Field had been removed after it fell into disrepair, and decided to take action to replace it.
“This project is very important. The park is a great place to have fun and relax. We need to keep all the apparatus to be working, so young people do not miss out.” - Harry Key, one of the group members taking part.
Support from the Mayor and Town Council
Church Stretton Town Mayor Cllr Bob Welch said “We are delighted to be able to support the group of young people from NCS and we’ve been very impressed by their enthusiasm and drive. We hope that the event will be a resounding success and we shall ensure that funds raised are put to good use at the play park”.
About the Group
Organised by the National Citizen Services (NCS) scheme run by Catch22 , the group spent their first week in Pembrokeshire taking part in activities followed by a week at Staffordshire University learning about their further education and adult life. They are spending the final two weeks back in Church Stretton helping the community with litter picking, working at local charity shops, holding public yoga sessions and preparing for their grand finale, the Family Fun Day.
